  • Mechanical drawings and layouts
  • P&IDs
  • Hazard and malfunction analysis
  • Technical specifications and supplier documentation review

Specialist Mechanical Studies

  • Support mechanical handling studies for lifting, transfer and heavy-duty handling systems.
  • Undertake studies relating to powder mechanical processes including transport, milling and compaction.
  • Support engineering tasks in highly regulated or high-active environments, including glovebox-based processes.
  • Provide technical input into mechanical dismantling and compaction technologies.

Cross-Functional & Technical Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively within operational engineering teams and maintain strong technical communication across project groups.
  • Build relationships within the wider technical community, including subject matter experts and specialist engineering partners.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package
  • Private Medical Insurance (Single, Partner, Family options)
  • Non-contributory Pension Scheme
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing by 1 day per year up to 30 days)

Ideal Qualifications & Experience

While our client welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and transferable skills, the following experience is preferred:

Preferred Experience

  • 4+ years as a Graduate or Assistant Mechanical Engineer
  • Experience delivering mechanical engineering design across FEED, detailed design and technical specification stages
  • Background in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sectors
  • Experience delivering mechanical studies relating to handling systems, powder technologies and associated plant equipment
  • Understanding of design for manufacture, testing, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance and decommissioning
  • Experience overseeing contractors or supply chain documentation
  • Previous project exposure to Sellafield, AWE, Magnox, UKAEA or UKNNL (desirable)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Associate member of a professional body (e.g., IMechE), ideally working towards chartership
  • Eligible for or already holding UK Security Clearance (SC minimum)
  • Experience working on nuclear or other highly regulated industrial sites
