The Opportunity

Pivt is supporting a leading organisation within the UK defence and national security sector to appoint a Project Support Officer into a growing Programme Management Office (PMO).

This is a career-building opportunity for someone looking to develop within project management, working across a range of complex, high-impact programmes.

You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth coordination, structure, and governance of projects, working closely with Project Managers and senior PMO leadership to support delivery across both internal and customer-facing initiatives.

This role is ideally suited to someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented, and looking to build long-term capability within a structured, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and coordination support across the full project lifecycle
  • Maintain and update project documentation, including schedules, plans, cost data, and reporting packs
  • Support the production of project reports, dashboards, and performance updates
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, and stakeholder sessions, ensuring effective planning and delivery
  • Prepare agendas, capture actions, and ensure follow-up activities are tracked and completed
  • Support risk and issue management processes, ensuring accurate tracking and communication
  • Maintain project systems and records, ensuring data accuracy and consistency
  • Assist with financial tracking, including invoice processing and budget monitoring
  • Work closely with Project Managers to ensure governance and delivery standards are maintained

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in an administrative, coordination, or PMO support role, ideally within a project environment
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with exposure to project tools (e.g. Primavera P6, COBRA) advantageous
  • Ability to manage, organise, and maintain structured data and documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Working towards (or interest in) a project management qualification such as APM
