The Opportunity

Pivt is supporting a leading organisation within the UK defence and national security sector to appoint a Software Project Manager into a delivery-focused team operating on mission-critical programmes.

This is a hands-on delivery role where you will take ownership of software and technology projects, ensuring they are delivered to time, cost, and quality while maintaining strong commercial performance.

You will operate at the intersection of delivery, commercial performance, and customer engagement, working closely with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet both operational and strategic objectives.

This role offers the opportunity to work within a highly secure environment, delivering impactful solutions across complex defence and cyber domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of project delivery, ensuring outcomes are achieved within time, budget, and quality constraints
• Manage project financials, including forecasting, cost control, and risk mitigation
• Drive project profitability, identifying opportunities to improve commercial performance
• Lead and develop high-performing delivery teams, ensuring collaboration, motivation, and focus
• Maintain delivery momentum by aligning teams to key priorities and milestones
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as a trusted delivery partner
• Identify and support new business and growth opportunities within existing accounts
• Work closely with technical SMEs to determine appropriate solutions and delivery approaches
• Apply and promote Agile, Lean, and structured delivery methodologies
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, embedding lessons learned and best practice
• Oversee project closeout, including performance reviews and process improvement

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in a Project or Delivery Management role within software, IT, or cyber environments
• Experience delivering projects within Defence, Government, or highly regulated environments
• Strong understanding of commercial project delivery, including financial management and profitability
• Experience managing teams and stakeholders in complex, multi-disciplinary environments
• Knowledge of delivery frameworks such as Agile, PRINCE2, APM, or MSP
• Strong stakeholder engagement, with the ability to influence and communicate at all levels
• Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, business-focused outcomes
• Experience identifying and supporting growth opportunities within client accounts

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of this role:

• You must be a UK national
• You must be eligible to obtain and maintain the highest level of UK Government security clearance
